#S08 Forest management and nature conservation in hardwood forests under the NATURA 2000 directive (Nature Hardwoods)

Priority Area Agri - Reinforcing sustainability of agriculture, forestry and fisheries

Managing of NATURA 2000 involves different stakeholder perspectives; the private forest owners, NGOs involved in nature conservation, authorities, companies offering different forest management services and research organisations. The triple helix set up will cover the main actors involved in management of NATURA 2000 areas. To work actively with the issue will also facilitate communication of NATURA 2000 to the public.

Expected activities and main outcomes of the main project are: study tours, forest NATURA 2000 model areas, conceptual documents on alternative forest management methods e g "Close to nature forestry", good examples/best practise reports, discussion platform, strategic document of how to manage NATURA 2000 areas.
