#S84 Increasing significance of midfield wetlands to combat Baltic Sea eutrophication (SIGWET)

Policy Area Nutri – Reducing nutrient inputs to the sea to acceptable levels

The objective of the main project idea is decreasing nutrients run-off from farms in six countries of the Baltic Sea region in order to combat the eutrophication of the Baltic Sea. The main activities of the project are restoration of natural and construction of new midfield wetlands on 100 farms, monitoring of nitrogen and phosphorus concentration (run-off before and after construction) in wetlands as well as assessment of the efficiency of wetlands in regard to the protection of water resources.
