#S81 CO2 Geological Storage in the Baltic Sea Region (CGS)

Horizontal Action Climate

The main project idea addresses CO2 capture and storage (CCS) to support the decrease of CO2 emissions in the Baltic Sea region. The project plans to establish a cross-border consortium consisting of relevant stakeholders such as geological research institutes, industry and administration. This consortium will generate a database and reliable information on the geological possibilities and risks for CCS in the Palaeozoic Basin of the Baltic Sea. Further, several models and risk assessments will be developed and tested. A test site for CO2 injection is planned as well.
